The Hidden Strength of Community

You can have real faith, you can know your calling, and you can have your heart in the right place. But at some point, your arms are gonna get tired.

This is what happens to Moses in Exodus 17. God’s people were in their first battle after their Red Sea victory. As long as Moses’ arms were raised, they were winning. When they dropped, they started losing. And it’s not because Moses was weak, it was because he was human. And humans get tired.

That’s when his friends Aaron and Hur stepped in, one on each side, holding his arms up until the sun went down. They didn’t fight for him, but they fought with him.

Real community makes sure you don’t quit before you win.

It’s likely you feel like you’re carrying the whole fight by yourself, wondering why it feels heavier every day. It’s because God never designed you to carry it alone.

  • Strength happens together. Community is God’s answer to fatigue.
  • Accountability happens together. In Nehemiah 4, they built with one hand and held a weapon in the other. They worked side-by-side, ready to protect each other when the trumpet sounded.
  • Healing happens together. James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other… so you may be healed.” Forgiveness comes from God, but freedom often comes through people.

This is why surface-level friendships rarely cut it. You need people close enough to see your tired eyes before you say you’re tired. People bold enough to call you out when you’re drifting, who will love you too much to let you destroy yourself.

Maybe you’ve been carrying wounds for years, hiding them behind a smile, hoping time would make them fade. But healing doesn’t just come from time, tt comes from being known. Not just known by something, but known by someone.

When you step into real community, you find strength for your battles, accountability for your journey, and healing for your soul. That’s the power of living relationally intense.
