How to Pray Bold Prayers

You’ve prayed before.
Maybe you still do.
But deep down, you’re not sure it’s doing much. You’ve asked God to help, to heal, to show up…and you’ve waited. Sometimes you’ve seen breakthrough. Other times? Silence.

And over time, your prayers got quieter. Safer. Less specific. Not because you don’t believe in God… but because you’re not sure what He’ll do. Or if He’ll do anything at all. You want to know how to pray bold prayers again.

Jesus told a story that turns that whole mindset upside down.

It’s about a widow who keeps showing up in court, day after day, begging a judge for justice. She refuses to back down—even though he doesn’t seem to care. And eventually, something changes.

Jesus didn’t tell this story to shame people who feel tired of praying. He told it “so that [we] would always pray and not give up” (Luke 18:1, NIV).

There’s a kind of prayer that gets heaven’s attention.
It’s not always polished.
It’s not always calm.
But it’s bold, and it’s stubborn, and it doesn’t settle!

It’s likely that few people in your life are talking about this kind of praying.
We get uncomfortable with the idea of asking God for too much.
Or asking too often.
Or asking again when we’ve already been disappointed.

But what if we’ve misunderstood what God is actually inviting us into?

What if we took Jesus at His word when He said, “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7)?

It’s not about how to pray perfectly, it’s about how to pray like you actually believe God listens. Like you believe He’s good. Like you believe He responds—not always on your timeline, but always in love.

Because your prayers might not be too bold.
They might be too small.
