Is Jesus Enough When Life Feels Like Too Much?

When life starts falling apart, it’s easy to wonder if following Jesus is really worth it. The believers in Hebrews knew that feeling. They had left everything to follow Christ, only to face persecution, pain, and disappointment. Faith wasn’t making life easier, it was making it harder.

That’s when the writer of Hebrews reminds them:

Jesus is better. Better than comfort, better than success, and better than any substitute we run to when life hurts. Hebrews opens with this truth:

“Long ago God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son” (Hebrews 1:1–2).

Jesus isn’t just another messenger, He is the message. He’s the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of His nature (Hebrews 1:3). Everything the prophets pointed toward finds its fulfillment in Him. Every story from Adam to David to Jonah was only a shadow of what would be revealed through Christ.

But the most incredible part is that Jesus didn’t come to give us another list of things to do. He came to finish what we never could. In the Old Testament, priests stood daily to offer sacrifices for sin, but when Jesus offered Himself once for all, He sat down. The work was finished.

That changes how we live. Religion says do more to earn God’s favor. Jesus says it’s done. Religion builds fear and guilt. Jesus builds peace and confidence. You don’t have to strive for God’s approval. You already have it in Christ.

Blessings will come. Suffering will come. But the question remains the same: Is Jesus enough for you?
